Fires of Doomsday and Caius the Shadow Monarch

During my opponents end phase, I flip fires of doomsday. On my turn, I tribute one token for Caius and target the other token with Caius's effect, does my opponent still take 1000?

I tribute one of my monsters for Caius and with his effect, i target himself. My opponent flips Bottomless Trap Hole. Does my opponent still take 1000 damage because the monster targeted was still removed from play?

    Thanks

    -Rob

If Brron is the Mad King Dark World, and Reign Beuax is the Overlord of Dark World, then who really controls it?

Re: Fires of Doomsday and Caius the Shadow Monarch

    Answer:

    1) Damage is not inflicted when a Monster Token is removed from the field by the effect of "Caius the Shadow Monarch".

    2) "Caius the Shadow Monarch" is destroyed by "Bottomless Trap Hole" and removed from play by its effect.

"Caius the Shadow Monarch's" target, itself, is not removed from play by its effect, so no damage is inflicted.
