Players still have trouble with understanding the rules of Priority. I have been playing for many years and have understood Priority.
Priority states that the turn player can play OR activate a card first. When the turn player Normal/Special/Flip summons a monster, the opponent can activate Spells or Traps cards then after ie responding to the summon. If he/she chooses not to respond then the turn player can keep playing cards or actviating effects.
eg. Exiled Force is normal summoned by the turn player. The opponent activates Trap Hole. This is allowed since the turn player played a card first and now the turn player has lost Priority and now the opponent can activate spell/trap cards.
When the turn player summons a monster, the opponent can start a chain.
Drawing a card is not playing a card so In the draw phase if the turn player has not played OR activated a card the turn player holds Priority, Trap Dustshoot can not be played until the turn player has played OR activated a card.
Playing a card includes:
Setting spells/traps
Summoning (Normal/Flip/Special)
Activating Effects
So in short: The turn player has Priority to play the first card of their turn. Then once that has happended the opponent can start chains (Playing spells/traps). and When the turn player summons they lose Priority.
I hope everyone can understand this Priority issue now and enjoy the game even more.

2372796:haha forum trolls ftw
Comments such as the one quoted are not helpful and do not futher the thread. I'm willing to assume that the forum moderator would consider such a comment spam. The orginal post, while not entirely correct was written with good intent, please make sure that your comments have the same intent.

Not only was the original post written with good intent, but by the OP making said post, it provided us an opportunity to educate the OP and improve their knowledge of the game.
There is nothing wrong in posting inaccurate information as it will undoubtably be corrected by someone else with the correct information, thereby providing an opportunity for education and improved knowledge.
I am one of the first people to admit that I make mistakes, and sometimes post inaccurate information myself. When I am corrected, I learn from my mistakes and do not repeat them.
The only difference in this example is the experience and knowledge of the poster.
No one's been able to take me seriously... But that will change when I beat you at a children's card game.

O, rest assured, john danker, that my post in question had a good intent.
The intent being that I am pointing out the possibility of the original post falls under the definition of a forum troll, without expository value.
Infact, the odds are easily on that side - there's more than half a dozen listable reasons to believe op had no merit, with few or no redeeming ones. Furthermore, the intent of pointing out that possibility is so that other respondents will be healthy skeptics, the result of which is success on the troll's part, and thus positive feedback.
So, call it prudence, not lack of good intent.

Karl. I ask that you read through the following and tell us whether your posts regarding the OP being a forum troll would be considered appropriate for this forum:
Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Forum Code of Conduct
Welcome to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Unofficial Rules question forum! This forum is a quick way to get an unofficial answer to your rules question from community rules experts, many of whom are also high level judges. In order to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone, please follow the rules listed below. Any posts that break these rules will be deleted, and may result in banning.
1) These forums are moderated by Franklin Debrito. If you have any questions, please send him a Private Message.
2) No profanity, inappropriate content, hateful language or harassment is allowed in any form.
3) Do not link to unrelated or inappropriate websites. This includes eBay auctions and sales of any kind. We’re cool with linking to anything that helps the community to grow, but please do not use the forums as your personal outlet for advertisements. You will be banned.
4) Please be courteous, respectful and helpful to all users. Again, we’re trying to build a helpful, positive community on these boards.
5) Do not disrupt the forum to draw more attention to your post. This includes but is not limited to putting titles or posts in all caps, or excessively bumping posts.
6) Please do not use the boards for private discussions. This can be done via private message.
7) Please keep all post constructive in nature. Flames, rants, and generally unconstructive posts will be deleted.
8) Please use the "search" feature before posting. It is likely that your question has already been asked and answered.
9) Some actions, although do not clearly fall under violating any of the above rules, do violate the spirit of what moderators deem to be the goal and the purpose of these forums. If a moderator addresses something with you, please correct it. "I am not in violation of any rules!" or "Person X is doing the same thing!" are not valid excuses.
There is no excuse for disrespect at any time.
No one's been able to take me seriously... But that will change when I beat you at a children's card game.

On Karl's defense, at least he wasn't spamming like I've seen a few people (robots) do.
"But I don't like spam!"
And now for something completely different.
Question: What's a forum troll?
"Another victory for America!" Before you die, you see the ring

A troll is a person who posts something for the sole purpose of flaring up readers and/or sparking flame wars. aka posting to get a kick/response out of respondents. A web search will probably give you visual stereotypes of such people .
Also, to prove my sincerity on this matter, if djfletcher responds here, rest assured that I will be apolegetic in mistaking him for something he was not.
O and jasmine, assuming that you've read those rules, would it not've been better to pm your last post to me instead? However, more on the actual rules themselves, I'm quite sure (or at least, I hope I'm not wrong) what rule #9 hinted at is the most important guideline these forums can have: 9) Some actions, although do not clearly fall under violating any of the
above rules, do violate the spirit of what moderators deem to be
the goal and the purpose of these forums.
Spirit and purpose - things both essential and constitutional for integrity and even existence for areas of serious discussion. I had many reasons to believe that the op was most likely doing much harm to those two things. Now please stop treating me as if I were Copernicus, suggesting the Earth was round.

Sorry, no matter how you wish to justify the above quote, it's not helpful, it's not polite, it doesn't further the discussion, it doesn't appear to be in the spirit of these forums.

Feeling your need to share your opinion with everyone else is fine, providing you do it in a manner which is consistant with the Code of Conduct.
As I said previously - There is no excuse for disrespect on these forums, at any time.... Even when sharing your opinion.
Calling someone a Forum Troll is a form of disrespect, and as such, can never be justified.
